  6. ||   the excessive violence patch is a way to add, well,                   ||
  7. || excessive violence to Quake. and by excessive i mean more               ||
  8. || excessive than quake already has.. :)                                   ||
  9. ||   i've added a number of interesting, gory, and altogether              ||
  10. || campy features:                                                         ||
  11. ||                                                                         ||
  12. || weapons:                                                                ||
  13. || > Grenade Launcher fires a random head, which acts like a normal grenade||
  14. || > Nailguns fire a random gib, which acts like a normal nail             ||
  15. || > Head-Grenades expel gibs when exploding                               ||
  16. || > Both Gib-nails and Head-grenades leave blood trails                   ||
  17. ||                                                                         ||
  18. || gib stuff:                                                              ||
  19. || > Monsters produce about three times as many gibs                       ||
  20. || > Heads are gib-able (by an explosive)                                  ||
  21. || > Gibs, instead of dissolving, explode (non-damaging)                   ||
  22. ||                                                                         ||
  23. ||   none of this stuff should at all affect gameplay.. other than some    ||
  24. || possible slowdown and obscuring your view with gibs.                    ||
  25. ||   sometimes there are enough objects on the screen that a packet        ||
  26. || overflow will occur, which messes up the sound but nothing else.        ||
  27. ||  source code is available upon request.                                 ||

  31. ||  none known, except aforementioned packet overflow.                     ||

  37. ||  i want to add the capability to gib bodies, without making them solid  ||
  38. || and therefore obstructing walking, and also make rockets into something ||
  39. || gory.                                                                   ||

  42. || Installation:                                                           ||
  43. ||                                                                         ||
  44. || 1) Make a subdirectory in your quake directory: for example, named gibs.||
  45. || 2) Move the included 'progs.dat' file into your new subdirectory.       ||
  46. || 3) Run quake with the parameter -game and the name of the subdirectory: ||
  47. ||    for example, 'quake -game gibs'                                      ||
  48. || 4) Enjoy!                                                               ||

  50. ||  for a deathmatch game, only the server has to use the gibs patch.      ||
